Kovacs

Tormod "Kovacs" Guldvog is a classical guitarist by education but is working within the realms of electronica and ambient pop. Musical influences range from guitarists like John Scofield and Terje Rypdal via pop bands like Kent and Keane to rock names like U2 and R.E.M, as well as unclassifiable musicians like Jan Garbarek.

His venture into ambient electronica is forever a new beginning. Apart from guitar and voice, his compositions are entirely written and performed in software and recorded in a home studio.

"Brief Relief" was written and recorded while Kovacs was staying in a cabin in Lusterfjord, the innermost part of Norway's largest fjord. It is a product of a week of solitude. The song tries to encompass the need for inner strength while at the same time convey a longing for lost roots. It takes inspiration from traditional folk tunes, but is a completely new composition fusing traditional tones with ambient beats.
